Hi, my name is Reese! I moved back to the Bay Area three years ago after earning my Master’s in Economics from The New School for Social Research in New York City, where I published my first academic paper in the field of energy economics in partnership with Columbia University and The New School. My graduate work deepened not only my subject knowledge, but also my passion for education, research, and helping students develop the tools to succeed academically and beyond.
Since returning home, I have worked as a full-time tutor in Mill Valley, Marin, and San Francisco, supporting more than 50 students from middle school through high school. Over the years, I’ve worked with students across a wide variety of subjects and grade levels, tailoring my instruction to meet their unique academic needs, goals, and learning styles.
In addition to subject expertise, I place a strong emphasis on building academic confidence and resilience. I believe that education is not just about earning grades—it’s about developing the lifelong skill of learning how to learn. Drawing from my own academic and professional journey, I teach strategies for managing stress, breaking down complex problems step by step, and approaching challenges with clarity and persistence. Just as I learned what methods worked best for me, I encourage students to reflect on their strengths and preferences, so together we can design a personalized learning plan tailored to their success.
As a 5th-generation San Franciscan now living in Marin, I understand the unique academic landscape of the Bay Area, from the rigor of local schools to the competitive demands of high school and college preparation. My goal is to serve as both an academic coach and mentor, helping students not only meet immediate classroom goals, but also gain the independence and confidence to excel in future challenges.
